Many questions arise about the difference between an estimate and a service call. Here are some of the most commonly asked questions we hear from out clients.

 

Q: What is the difference between a service call and an estimate?

A: A service call is used for any task that can be taken care of that day; light fixture replacement, small carpentry jobs, or electrical diagnostics for example.  These jobs are smaller by nature and typically require one day or less worth of work.

An estimate is used for larger jobs, whether they be carpentry or electrical related. Such projects include kitchen/bath remodels, deck replacement or major electrical upgrades. These jobs are larger by nature and typically require several days work of worth.

The general rule of thumb is: Service calls are for installation or replacement of existing fixtures in the home and estimates are for new renovations and rebuilds.

 

Q: What is the price difference between a service call and an estimate? 

A: The charge for a service call is $49.95 which covers the technician’s time to come to your home, assess the issue at hand and provide you with a cost for same day repair.

Q: Why do I have to pay a service charge for you to tell me how much the job will cost?

A: We require a service charge to eliminate the need for additional charges in our job costing and to ensure that your issue is taken care of immediately.  By paying the $49.95 service charge you have a qualified technician with a fully stocked truck at your door ready to work.  Once the technician goes over your issue, presents their findings, suggestions and costs to you, they are ready to get to work that day and stay the whole day if needed.
